The Berkhamsted Workshop

Two hours, five people,
one long table.

A small, friendly monthly workshop for people who'd like to actually use AI, not just read about it. No slides, no tech jargon, no being made to feel slow. Just us, a good coffee, and your real work in front of you.

"I use Claude every day now. Saves me about two hours a week." — Sarah, HR manager

What we'll be talking about.

Getting started -- your first real conversation with Claude

We'll start from zero. Opening it up, asking your first question, and finding the two or three everyday uses that'll earn it a permanent tab on your laptop.

Writing -- emails, letters, complaints, and things you've been putting off

The one most people feel immediate relief from. Bring three real things you need to write this month. You'll leave with drafts of all three.

Thinking partner -- decisions, planning, and getting unstuck

Using Claude as a sounding board for the bigger stuff: a career move, a tricky conversation, a business decision you've been circling for weeks.

What to expect

A relaxed two hours, roughly like this.

There's a structure, but it's loose. The point is that you leave with something useful, not that I get through my notes.

12:00

Coffee and introductions

Who you are, what you do, and what you'd quite like to stop doing.

12:20

The session's topic, gently

A short walk-through of the month's idea, with examples from real life.

12:45

Your turn, with help

You work on your own thing. I go round the table. We all chip in.

1:30

Lunch and questions

A proper sandwich, and time for anything you didn't want to ask in front of the group.

2:00

Home, with homework (optional)

One thing to try this week, plus a cheat sheet to take with you.

From the table

What people actually said afterwards.

"I came expecting to feel stupid. Instead I drafted a letter to the council about the potholes on Kings Road that I'd been putting off for three months. The whole thing took ten minutes."

Helen, 64 · retired headteacher

"I spend half my life writing property descriptions. Myk showed me how to get Claude to write them in my voice. I now get through Monday's listings before lunch."

James, 42 · estate agent, Tring

"I almost didn't come because I thought it would be too technical. It was just five of us round a table with sandwiches. I use Claude every day now for policy documents. Saves me about two hours a week."

Sarah, 38 · HR manager

"Came to the first one out of curiosity, booked the second one on the walk home. My wife says I won't stop talking about it."

David, 57 · semi-retired accountant
