Privacy

Your data, in plain English.

This is a small, personal site run by one person. I'm not in the business of collecting anything clever about you. Here's exactly what I do collect, where it lives, and how to ask me to delete it.

What I collect

Just the bits I need.

If you subscribe to the weekly letter, I collect your email address. That's it. No name, no surname, no job title, no company.

If you ask for a spot at a Berkhamsted workshop, I collect your name, your email, which session you'd like, and whatever you write in the "what do you do and what are you hoping to get out of it" box. That last bit helps me plan the session around the people in the room.

I do not collect your IP address, your location, your browsing behaviour, your device, or anything else. No tracking pixels. No analytics. No advertising.

Why I collect it

To send you things you asked for.

Your email is used to deliver the weekly letter. Your workshop details are used to confirm your booking, send you the venue and payment details, and plan the session. Nothing else.

Where it lives

In a Cloudflare KV store.

Your details sit in a Cloudflare KV namespace attached to this site. Cloudflare is a US-headquartered company with a global network, and in this context they are what the law calls a "processor" -- they store the data on my behalf, under my instructions. They do not use it for anything of their own.

How long I keep it

Until you tell me to stop.

For the weekly letter, I keep your email until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. For workshop bookings, I keep your details until the workshop is over and you've had a chance to ask any follow-up questions. After a reasonable gap, I remove the booking record.

What about cookies?

No tracking cookies. One small piece of local storage.

This site does not use tracking cookies. There are no third-party cookies, no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no fingerprinting. Nothing of that sort.

The site does use one tiny piece of localStorage in your browser to remember whether you prefer the light or the candlelit dark mode. That preference never leaves your machine. It is not sent to me or to anyone else.

Who else sees it

Nobody.

I do not sell your data. I do not share it for marketing. I do not give it to advertisers, data brokers, or "partners". The only third party involved is Cloudflare, who stores the data for me as described above.

Your rights

The usual UK GDPR ones.

You can ask me at any time to:

  • tell you what I have on you,
  • correct anything that's wrong,
  • delete everything I have,
  • send you a copy so you can take it elsewhere, or
  • stop sending you the weekly letter (one click in any issue).

Email me at [email protected] and I'll sort it out, usually within a day or two.

If you ever feel I've handled your data poorly, you can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. I'd much rather you email me first and give me a chance to fix it.

About the workshop

Cancellations, refunds, the lot.

The workshop costs £75. That covers the room, the coffee, the lunch, and the two hours of my time.

If you need to cancel, email me. If there are more than seven days until the session, I'll give you a full refund. If it's closer than that and I can fill your spot, I'll refund you then too. If I cannot, I'll offer you a free spot at the following month instead.

If I have to cancel the session for any reason, you get a full refund or a free spot at the next one, your choice.

Who I am

One person, in Berkhamsted.

This site is run by me, Myk Masuku, as part of Myk Kym Inc. If you want the formal data controller language: I am the data controller for any personal data you give this site. You can reach me at [email protected].

Changes to this page

I'll keep it honest.

If I ever change how any of this works, I'll update this page and note the date below. I won't quietly start collecting more data, add a tracker, or sell your email. If I ever decide this site needs any of that, I'll shut it down instead.
